SHILLONG: The infamous ‘massage man’, better known as ‘Bah Jyllud’, and whose real name is David Lyngdoh, is on the prowl again after escaping from police custody here on Wednesday.
He escaped from the washroom of the under trial prisoners (UTP) hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
When contacted, SP of East Khasi Hills, Claudia Lyngwa said, “He was brought from Nongpoh jail to be produced in a Shillong court in an old case on Wednesday. While he was there, he wanted to go to the washroom from where he escaped through the window.”
She admitted slackness on the part of the police personnel and said the police department will take action against them.
Lyngwa maintained that the personnel should have checked whether the washroom was secured.
“We are already on the job and hope we will be able to catch him again,” he said.
It is not the first time that Lyngdoh, who goes by different names, was caught. Though caught in the police net several times, he managed to escape.
There are molestation and theft cases registered against him.
As per records, Lyngdoh, also known as ‘Phantom’, in 2012 was arrested for the third time on charges of burglaries and bike theft cases.
Again, in 2017, two FIRs were filed against him for breaking into a house in Madanrting and stealing a cell phone and wallet.
He was also caught in July 2017 from Umdihar Nongpoh only to escape again. He was re-arrested from Laitumkhrah in August, 2017.
