SHILLONG: JCI India and NIINE Movement will be conducting Run4NIINE in Shillong on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8 to create awareness about sanitation and menstrual hygiene. JCI Shillong Pine City president Sonia Agarwalla said the run will commence from Shillong Club and move towards Nan Polok, turn from Camel Back road encircling Governor House and proceed towards SP office before culminating at Shillong Club. The registrations will start from 6 am and the run/walk at 6:30 am and end at 7:30 am. The flag-off will be done by DC of East Khasi Hills, M War Nongbri.
The JCI India and NIINE Movement have taken up a joint initiative for 3 years to create awareness about sanitation and menstrual hygiene and to end myths about menstrual taboos. The members maintained that only 18 per cent of women in India use sanitary napkins.
