TURA: A teacher has accused the joint district mission coordinator of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan in Dadenggre of withholding her monthly dues in violation of a high court order that had directed the Education Department to clear the same, which had been pending for several months since last year.
In a written complaint this week to West Garo Hills deputy commissioner and chairperson of SSA Ram Singh, the teacher of Pabomari Upper Primary School, Afruza Khatun, stated that although she was appointed as an assistant teacher in the upgraded SSA school under Selsella block, the joint DMC in Dadenggre had not released her dues since April 2018.
The alleged stand of the joint DMC was that the concerned teacher did not have a sanctioned post to be eligible for a government teacher’s salary.
This has been countered by the affected teacher as she along with the headmaster and a science teacher of the same school were jointly issued appointment orders by the SSA as per the resolution passed by the school management committee way back in January 2017.
“I was appointed as an assistant teacher and the appointment was approved by the joint DMC of Dadenggre. I was included in the list of sanctioned teacher vide a government order dated 18-9-2018,” said Khatun in her complaint to the deputy commissioner.
The teacher had then approached the Meghalaya High Court through a writ petition pointing out to her appointment and the court had, in December, directed the department concerned to release her pending dues within 10 days.
But with the official concerned failing to do so and claiming Khatun to be a non-sanctioned teacher, the affected teacher demanded that criminal charges be brought against the joint DMC for allegedly falsifying and manipulating government letters that tantamount to violation of the court’s order.
