Three killed in road mishaps

SHILLONG: A Bolero pick-up fell into a gorge at Mattilang Park Junction, 6th Mile, Upper Shillong on March 2 at around 7 pm with thirty-five occupants in it. The mishap left a 19-year- old person dead, the police informed on Thursday.

The vehicle was driven by Lebison Kharmawphlang (21). All the occupants sustained injuries and were shifted to PHC Pomlum, from where some of them were referred to CH Shillong for better treatment.

However, the attending Medical Officer declared one of the injured victim,  Shosteering Kharkongor (19 ) brought dead.

In a separate incident, on March 3 at about 1 pm, one mini truck (AS-01-JC-1900) driven by Md. Mofidul Islam fell into a gorge at Shymplong NH-06 (East Jaintia Hills).

As a result, the driver and his helper, Md. Shajahan Ali died on the spot.
