SHILLONG/JOWAI: Newly elected CEM of KHADC and UDP MDC from Shella, Teinwell Dkhar, on Thursday vowed transparency while his counterpart in JHADC, Nartiang MDC Thombor Shiwat, said his priority was to improve the financial lot of the council.
Both were elected to their respective posts unopposed on Thursday.
Speaking after his election, Dkhar said he would be open to constructive suggestions and would lead the council without fear.
Dkhar is one of the senior most MDCs having been elected for four consecutive terms from Shella. Congress MDC Lamphrang Blah and Independent MDC Latiplang Kharkongor have also won four times each.
He attributed his success in electoral politics to “speaking from the heart.”
“What is my strategy to winning the MDC election for the last four terms? It is all about speaking from the heart. It cannot change,” he said adding also that his feet did not respond to temptations of joining any other party.
Responding to the jibe made by Congress MDCs who said his term has an expiry date of one year, he said a one-year term is enough to showcase one’s administrative acumen and assured to streamline the council’s functioning.
