SHILLONG: KHNAM which is fielding a retired IFS officer,  THS Bonney as its candidate from Shillong Lok Sabha seat, has asked the people of the state to apply their mind and elect a good candidate for themselves during the forthcoming election.

Talking to media persons here, KHNAM MLA Adelbert Nongrum stressed on the need to make people more aware about the importance of their votes and that they should not just vote blindly while exercising their franchise

“We have gone to few villages and when we asked them who is the MP from Shillong, they said  Narendra Modi .. So we need to create more awareness in the far flung areas of the state,” he said, adding that people should elect those people who are  capable and eligible to be voted

According to Nongrum, the party candidate started his campaigning around  two and half years before and he would give a tough fight to bigger parties like Congress and the BJP

He reiterated that the party would raise the issue of long-pending boundary dispute between Assam and Meghalaya.

Admitting that the other parties are far way ahead of KHNAM, he however added that the party this time was offering a good  candidate  who should not be taken lightly.

KHNAM which contested the recently concluded MDC elections in KHADC did not managed to win even a single seat.
