GUWAHATI:  Thirty-three companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) are arriving for Lok Sabha elections in Assam, according to the state’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Sahu.

The CEO said, “The ministry of Home Affairs has allotted 33 companies of central forces for Assam so far. The security needs will be reviewed and more forces will be sent depending on the need.”

Most of these 33 companies of central forces either have arrived already or will be reaching shortly.  The CEO informed that detail security arrangement for the election  had been worked out taking into account local forces as well as outside forces.

The CEO further said the security deployment for this Lok Sabha election is commensurate with the forces sent for 2014 General Elections.

“The deployment is more during Assembly election as more forces are also available, since election doesn’t happen across the country simultaneously at that time,” Sahu added.

Lok Sabha election will be held in three phases in Assam for its 14 seats on April 11, 18 and 23.
