KSU complains to IIM

SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Nongthymmai circle has lodged a complaint with the Director, Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Shillong, against the students for creating disturbance.
In a statement issued here, the union claimed that it had received complaints from people living in the institute’s neighbourhood that the students would play music loudly disturbing those appearing for various examinations.
The circle leaders of the union also took exception to female students who smoke and ignore people passing by. The statement said, “The IIM is a place of study and its presence is a blessing and should not be a curse on the people.”
It said the IIM-Shillong management has assured to look into the matter and that such incidents will not happen in the future. On the other hand, the union has urged the director-in-charge, Keya Sengupta, to give preference to local youth for vacancies in various posts in the institute.
