Fraud
On March 18, a complaint was lodged by Md. Chand of M/s Good Luck Coal Export, Gasuapara that his employee, Rajkumar Biswakarma fled with Rs 450,000 which belonged to the firm.
On March 18, Praveen Dunai lodged a complaint that Bernard Mariang, home guard of Wildlife Nongpoh Range, fraudulently assisted Tilit Mariang (cousin) to secure a job using his personal testimonials.
Accident
On March 16, a Bolero (ML 10B 5667) driven by Wanstar Langstieh demounted a pedestrian named Alfred John Shadap (20) at Pahamsohthri village. The victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Bethany Hospital, Nongpoh.
Theft
On March 16, miscreants entered the quarter of DV Lyngdoh, MCS, EAC, Nongstoin at night and stole television worth Rs 12,000.
On March 12, miscreants broke into the house of Nurista Khongmalai at Mawpran village in east Khasi Hills and took away cash of Rs 30,000, gold earrings, bank passbook and ATM card.
On March 10, a complaint was filed by Hammyllien Law stating miscreants stole fifty-two batteries worth Rs 4 lakh from the Service Network Provider Tower in Shangpung village, West Jaintia Hills.
On January 10, Rukmini Sharma lodged a complaint that an unidentified person went to her residence claiming to be from the cleaner’s company exchanged her gold ornaments (4.5 tolas) with copper items
Robbery
On March 16, masked miscreants in camouflage dress attempted to rob the vehicles and its occupants plying between Wageasi and Tamsura, NH-62 in North Garo Hills. The miscreants had targeted a truck and Maruti Alto when the police observed them. They fled after seeing the cops and fired five rounds at them. The vehicles fled when they hear shots fired
Two assaulted in separate incidents
On March 13, Samborlang Wanniang (19) lodged a complaint that Brosly Rynthong assaulted him with a wooden stool at Nongtraw village, West Khasi Hills. The victim sustained critical injuries and was admitted to Civil Hospital, Nongstoin.
On March 12, Pramod Kumar registered a complaint that Bishnu Ray, Amit Ray and Suraj Ray assaulted his cousin Binay Ray (24) at 8th Mile, Khanapara. The victim sustained injuries and was shifted to Guwahati Neurological Research Centre Hospital, Guwahati. Futher, Bishnu Ray threatened to kill Binay if he did not pay Rs 10,000 every month. Bishnu Ray was also held responsible for damaging his truck (AS-01GC-4590).
Unauthorised transaction
On March 12, Vidhi Khabya lodged a complaint that four unauthorised transactions amounting to Rs 10,000 were made from her bank account in two days.
Fire arms recovered
On March 7, Beat Forest Officer of Chimitap Wildlife Beat, South Garo Hills, lodged a complaint that during their patrol duty at Nawa and Rongkandi areas of Balpakram National park, a temporary camp was detected. On inspection of the camp, three fully loaded local-made firearms were recovered. The culprits were found fishing at river Nawa who fled away at the sight of the patrollers.
