No nomination filed in state on Day 1

SHILLONG: No nomination was filed on the first day for both Shillong and Tura seats for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Chief Electoral officer FR Kharkongor said that no nominations were received on Monday. The last date for filing of nominations is March 25.
So far names of two candidates from Shillong — Vincent Pala and Jemino Mawthoh — have been announced while in Tura, NPP and Congress have named Agatha Sangma and Mukul Sangma as their respective candidates.
Meanwhile, the expenditure observers for both Shillong and Tura seats have started arriving.
There are two expenditure observers each for the two seats.
The general observers too are scheduled to reach both the areas shortly as they usually arrive on the last day of filing of nominations and during scrutiny.
