SHILLONG/TURA: The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills Abhishek Bhagotia announced the names and contact numbers of the district election expenditure observers, Hiwase Anoop Sadashiv (8787514343) and Rajesh Kothari (6909563468).
Election expenditure observer for Tura Gudrun Nehar on Tuesday convened a meeting with the representatives of banks, financial institutions, parties, Income Tax and Excise department. In the meeting, Nehar insisted on coordination from all institutions and directed them to monitor any dubious transaction happening around the state.
She also advised them to coordinate with their counterparts in other districts to ensure smooth conduct of election to Tura Lok Sabha seat and by-election to Selsella Assembly seat.
Moreover, DC of West Garo Hills Ram Singh has directed the Excise Department to conduct naka checking jointly with police personnel to monitor the distribution of cash and liquor in the district. The DC’s office has also proposed to conduct awareness programmes encouraging ethical voting among people.
