TURA: The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC)’s sit-in demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Tura on Tuesday was halted midway after the earlier written permission given by the DC was revoked in view of the declaration of the Lok Sabha polls.
Around 40-50 members of the GSMC led by its Chairman, Nikman Ch Marak had gathered in front of the entrance to the DC’s Office to stage the sit-in demo to press for the demand for creation of a separate Garoland State.
However, the members were told to immediately leave the venue at 11:15 am following which they complied and dispersed peacefully.
It may be mentioned that the GSMC has since long been organising a series of rallies and agitations in demand for creation of separate Garoland State. The sit-in demonstration was one among the many such protest staged by the committee.
