SHILLONG: THS Bonney, KHNAM’s candidate for Shillong parliamentary seat, filed his nomination at the deputy commissioner’s office here on Tuesday.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Bonney put forth his agenda of improving the state’s ranking in terms of GDP per capita income. The state currently ranks 28th, he informed.
He also spoke about the contentious inter-state border dispute with Assam and vowed to resolve it.
The state’s performance in All India Civil Services in the last five years worried Bonney, who is a retired Indian Forest Service officer.
While expressing concern over the state’s education system, especially in rural areas, the KHNAM candidate maintained that students here should read more books written by local people. “What does a person from Delhi know?” he remarked.
Bonney will face heavyweights Vincent Pala and Jemino Mawthoh. When asked about his rivals, he said, “I depend on the love of the people.”
KHNAM MLA Adelbert Nongrum said the party has many agenda to highlight before the election.
