NEW DELHI:  Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday asked people to vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi again only if they wanted their children to become watchmen.

“Modi wants to turn India into a nation of watchmen. If you want your children to become one, vote for Modi. But if you want your children to get educated and become doctors, engineers and lawyers, vote for AAP, a party of honest and educated people,” he tweeted in Hindi.

Capitalising on the Opposition’s attack on him in the Rafale jet deal, Modi last week tweeted a video with the hashtag “#MainBhiChowkidar” (I am also a watchman) and called out to all those fighting corruption, dirt, social evils and working hard for India’s progress to join the campaign identifying themselves as “Chowkidar”.

Initially several BJP leaders started tweeting using the hashtag but soon many of them prefixed “Chowkidar” to their Twitter handles.

The AAP has launched fielded candidates in all the seven seats in Delhi, giving a direct fight to the BJP in the national capital. IANS
