GUWAHATI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections in Assam where election will be held in three phases on April 11, 18 and 23.
The BJP in its first list has named following candidates in eight Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam: Queen Ojha in Guwahati, Dilip Saikia in Mangaldai, Pradan Baruah in Lakhimpur, Rameswar Teli in Dibrugarh, Tapan Gogoi in Jorhat, Rajdeep Roy in Silchar, Kripanath Mallah in Karimganj and Haren Sing Bey in Diphu.
The BJP has denied poll tickets to sitting MPs Bijoya Chakraborty and Ramen Deka from Guwahati and Mangaldai Lok Sabha constituencies.
The BJP is going to contest in total 10 seats in Assam. The party is yet to name candidates for Tezpur and Nagaon constituencies.
The BJP’s ally AGP will contest in the rest three Lok Sabha seats – Kaliabor, Barpeta and Dhubri and another ally BPF will contest from Kokrajhar.
