KSU concerned over rise in drug use among youth

MAWKYRWAT: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), South West Khasi Hills, on Thursday expressed concern over the rising drug problem in Mawkyrwat especially among the local youth.
The KSU, Mawkyllut unit, on Wednesday also apprehended a drug peddler along with an addict.
This was the second time in the past five months that the KSU apprehended a drug peddler within the district. The student body also demanded the district administration, police department and the anti-narcotics team of South West Khasi hills district to take up the matter seriously.
Meanwhile, the SP of South West Khasi Hills, Maxwell B Syiem informed that the KSU along with police found 10.9 gram of cocaine from the peddler.
The SP further informed that the KSU has filed an FIR against the accused.
