Arms deposit
The Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi district, has directed that all licensed arms in the district be deposited at police stations/outposts by March 28. Failure to comply will invite legal action.
General meeting
The All Garo Hills 4th Teachers’ Association will hold its annual general meeting at Mondoltilla Community Hall at 11 am on March 30. All the members are urged to attend the meeting.
Rice released
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), East Khasi Hills District has informed that rice under NFSA and Non-NFSA and wholemeal atta for the month of March has been released through their respective fair price shops on Friday. AAY at the scale of 35 kg per card at the rate of Rs. 3 per kg, PHH at the scale of 5 kg per unit at the rate of Rs. 3 per kg, TO at the scale of 7 kg per household at the rate of Rs. 11.70 to Rs. 12 per kg and wholemeal atta at the scale of 5 kg and 3 kg for Urban and Rural respectively at the rate of Rs. 8 per kg. All the Fair Price Shop Dealers are directed to lift their allotted quota within March 30 and to display the list of beneficiaries and the price board in their shops.
Tangkhul fest
The Tangkhul Khararnao Long celebrated Luira Phanit, 2019 (sowing festival of the Tangkhul Nagas) in Shillong on Saturday. A statement by the organisation said that the cultural festival has deepened the sense of preserving their unique social and cultural identity. The orgnisation also thanked different stakeholders including Naga Elders Forum for their support in successfully hosting the festival.
