Cyclone hits Nonglang village

Mawkyrwat: A cyclone accompanied by heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Mawkyrwat on Friday in which a total of 17 households were affected.
Apart from a lot of property damage, trees and electric wires were uprooted as well.
“The incident took place around 12:30 am when most of the people were asleep,” said one of the locals.
South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo, said that temporary-relief measures were given to the affected villagers. Laloo also informed that the office of the Block Development Officer, Mawkyrwat, has conducted an inspection regarding the incident
