TURA: A health mela-cum-awareness camp was held at Upper Rembigre village in West Garo Hills recently to spread awareness about contagious diseases and to facilitate health check-up for villagers.
Doctors spoke about projects under the health department to familiarise the community with objectives and activities of the government. They emphasised that work on the establishment of models, formation of self-help groups, remedial education and employability was under way.
Tuberculosis was explained and the importance of blood was also highlighted during the programme. The doctors gave a brief account on the medical facilities provided by the government to the deprived strata of society.
They also requested the attendees to spread health-related wisdom they gained during the event.
Posters and pamphlets containing key messages on dengue and malaria along with other diseases were distributed during the programme.
