SHILLONG: Reporters on Monday decided to not write about the budget speech of the Executive Member in charge of Finance, Pyniaid Sing Syiem, in the KHADC session as the council failed to provide it.
It is the first time that reporters have faced such a predicament when the council staff refused to provide the copy of the speech delivered on Monday to reporters.
The staff maintained that the budget speech had not been tabled. However, Syiem had already stood up to table the budget speech.
When reporters informed that the budget speech had already been tabled, the staff refused to listen.
Unlike in the Assembly where the reporters get necessary reports, copies and other documents, the council is marred by slackness. The reporters further decided that they will not write anything on the Budget session if the KHADC does not make arrangements for necessary copies and documents in the remaining days.
