SHILLONG: NPP state president, WR Kharlukhi has taken another jibe at Congress candidate, Mukul Sangma terming him as a hesitant candidate who initially did not wanted to contest the Lok Sabha elections
“We all know he was forced to contest the election. He had his own calculations and others from his party too had their own calculations about him,” Kharlukhi told while speaking to reporters.
The Tura seat is heading for a multi-cornered battle among the BJP, Congress and the NPP but the main fight there is mainly between NPP’s Agatha Sangma and Congress’ Mukul Sangma.
However, Kharlukhi sounds confident that NPP will be able to defeat both Congress and BJP in both Shillong and Tura constituencies.
Distancing NPP from BJP, he said that the party was very clear on its stand and it would go against the BJP as well as the Congress when it comes to the issues of the tribal and indigenous population of the state and the region
As far as Selsella Assembly seat is concern , he said that the party was well prepared for the seat where by-elections will take place simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls
He also denounced the sympathy factor saying there was no sympathy factor in Williamnagar when the wife of Late Johnathone Sangma contested and lost the by-elections last year
The Selsella constituency too is witnessing a multi-cornered fight between the Congress, NPP and the BJP
