Operation Group reviews pre-poll security scenario in 3 NE states

GUWAHATI: The inter-state Operation Group comprising Army, civil administration and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) deployed in Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh took stock and reviewed the overall security scenario in the run up to Lok Sabha polls.
The meeting of the Operation Group held at Dinjan Army base in Tinsukia district of Assam on Wednesday focused on security scenario in the regions of Upper Assam, South Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, a Defence source informed.
The meeting was attended by the Spear Corps Commander, Lt Gen Rajeev Sirohi, Joint Secretary, North East (MHA), Satyendra Garg, General Officer Commanding, Dao Division, Major General Rajendra Sachdev, ADGP (Security), Assam, Harmeet Singh and IGP (Law & Order), Arunachal Pradesh, Sagar Preet Hooda.
Besides reviewing the overall security situation in the regions of Upper Assam, South Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, the Operation Group also discussed the ongoing preparations to ensure incident free conduct of upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
It is pertinent to mention that the proposal to form the Operations Group took shape on Nov 12, 2018 during a high level security review meeting at Dinjan chaired by Reena Mitra, Special Secretary, MHA (Internal Security). Since then, the Operations Group has held four meetings in Dinjan which has enhanced the cohesion amongst all stake holders in the three states.
