SHILLONG: The National Building Construction Corporation has started border fencing work between Nongjri and Lyngkhat without a ‘no objection certificate’ (NOC) from the KHADC.
Replying to a supplementary query raised by Congress MDC Grace Kharpuri, KHADC Executive Member in charge of Land Mitchell Wankhar said the corporation has not obtained NOC.
Kharpuri informed the House that fencing was in progress and urged to stall the work till the KHADC gives nod.
Wankhar said inspection of the area was done on January 29, 2019, but the report has not been submitted till date.
He assured that the executive committee would do the needful.
He added that as per the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013, no objection certificate has to be sought from the district council. He assured that the EC will look into the issue carefully.
Congress MDC Ronnie Lyngdoh said the deputy commissioners of the respective districts should be informed.
Nongjri is in west Khasi Hills and Lyngkhat in East Khasi Hills.
CEM Teiñwell Dkhar said in view of the progress of work, the KHADC will look into the matter.
