SHILLONG: The CEM of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Teiñwell Dkhar said that he will meet with officials of the Geological Survey of India (GSI) to seek clarification on the allegation of uranium mining by the GSI.
The CEM stood up to supplement the reply of Executive Member (EM) in charge of Land, NPP MDC Mitchel Wankhar during the Zero Hour notice moved by Congress MDC Balajied Ranee.
He said that the NOC was issued after the Model Code of Conduct was enforced which is not proper.
It may be mentioned the Model Code of Conduct for the 2019 council elections was enforced on February 2 while the NOC was issued on February 15.
Earlier, Wankhar stated that the NOC issued to the GSI was not clear.
He said that the GSI maintained that there was no connection with uranium mining but it was exploring bauxite which is an aluminum ore.
He said that the Executive Committee will examine the matter and if there is any connection with Uranium mining, the NOC will be scrapped.
