TURA: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Garo Hills has clarified on the allegation that the SDO of Dadenggre had violated the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by allotting wholesales to dealers in Tikrikilla stating it goes against the directions of the High Court.
In a statement issued here on Sunday the CEO clarified that the order that was issued on 11.3.2019 was the monthly allotment of food grains to the wholesalers which was a routine affair taken up every month in
order to ensure that the food grains reach the beneficiaries as per provision of National Food Security Act 2013.
“The said order does not involve appointment of any wholesalers and that the appointment of new wholesalers was made on or before 8.3.2019, which was much before the enforcement of MCC,” the CEO clarified.
The clarification further stated that the order of the HC mentioned in the complaint has neither stayed nor quashed the appointment of wholesalers made earlier. The new appointment made ill sis as per the
order issued by the Department of Food and Civil Supplies on 28.01.2019, it added.
“Upon receipt of the explanation from the SDO(C ), a report as per the prescribed format, on the alleged MCC violation along with the ATR had been furnished to CEO,on 20.03.2019 and subsequently, detailed report
was also furnished to Jt. CEO on 23.03.2019,” the clarification further said.
