Fire destroys shops in Mawlai

SHILLONG: Altogether 15 shops were gutted in a fire which broke out at Mawlai Bus Stand in Mawlai Phudmawri around 2:30 am on Sunday.
The owners of the shops, Karamon Lyngdoh Nongbri and her brother D Lyngdoh Nongbri, informed reporters that they are yet to find out the exact cause of the fire.
Property damage is estimated to be around Rs 80 to Rs 90 lakh.
The fire also damaged three vehicles parked nearby.
Local MLA, PT Sawkmie, visited the site and met the shop owners.
