SHILLONG: People residing near Red Cross, Laban, are running without water for almost two months now.
The pipeline is either broken or is blocked but no efforts have been made by authorities to repair or clean it.
The Municipal Board has been supplying 2 to 3 buckets of water to each family in the area, which is mostly utilised for drinking.
Many families cannot afford to buy water every day and are facing problems. The government has not taken any initiative on the issue despite numerous complaints.
The affected households are hoping that this two-month-long ordeal will not be extended further.
