SHILLONG: Residents of this picturesque hill city have been facing severe difficulties in daily life for quite sometime because of prolonged power cuts that they are subjected to. The average duration of power cut is  about three hours everyday in almost all the localities in the city.

The daily schedule of power cut has become a bane of life in the city where residents are already having harried time because of severe drinking water crisis and traffic congestion on the road.

However, concerned officials  in the power distribution department are apparently not bothered even though street lights are not switched off till noon everyday in many localities in the city.
