SHILLONG: The NEIGRIHMS Resident Doctors’ Association (NRDA) held an emergency meeting on Tuesday evening following the constant failure of the NEIGRIHMS administration under director DM Thappa to address various issues.
The association informed that since no reply has been received from the administration even after it had submitted an ultimatum; it has been left with no other choice but to call for a shutdown on Thursday. However, emergency services will not be affected.
“An ultimatum was given to the NEIGRIHMS administration by NRDA but no communication has been made till now. We have no other options left, but to save this institute from further devastation, NRDA is calling a total shutdown of services from Thursday morning that will continue until the incumbent autocratic Director is removed from the post for the betterment of our dear institute and this region which we care for,” the association said.
“This extreme step is being taken by NRDA considering the long term betterment of this institute and region, although accompanied with short term difficulty,” it added.
Earlier, the association had demanded immediate withdrawal of the character certificate issued by the Dean, Dr AC Phukan, under the guidance of the director to Dr Tony Ete, who is the former president of NRDA.
