SHILLONG: The NPP is not over-confident and definitely not underestimating its opponents as the party prepares for the Lok Sabha elections on April 11, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said.
Sangma told reporters that the party is putting up candidates in other states of the North eastern region for the Lok Sabha elections and is fighting aggressively.
“In any election, we would like to ensure that there is no question of over-confidence and underestimation of the opposition. But I am sure we will win the Tura seat comfortably,” he added.
Sangma said the campaign for the Lok Sabha elections in different parts of the North East is in full swing. The Congress said the party is fighting aggressively in the North East. NPP is also putting up candidates in other states of the Northeastern region for the Lok Sabha elections.
As for the Tura campaign in which the NPP national president has fielded his sister, Agatha Sangma as candidate, Conrad exuded confidence to win the seat though he did not downplay the role of the opposition Congress.
