Rabha students distance from political affiliation

TURA: The All Rabha Students’ Union (ARSU), Meghalaya, in a statement issued on Saturday, said that the organisation has deviated itself away from providing any political support to any party.
The ARSU, including few other Rabha organisations from Garo Hills, pledged their support to the National Peoples’ Party candidate Agatha K Sangma few days ago during a conglomeration.
After a meeting between the executive members of ARSU, a clarification was made stating that the students’ body was ‘apolitical’ in nature.
“ARSU has been found with the objective to work as an independent pressure group for the betterment of Rabha society and as such the support to the NPP is a completely personal decision of the president. The ARSUM does not support any political party and we deny extending any support to any party whatsoever,” stated the student body.
