SHILLONG: Former Congress leader John F Kharshiing has decided to support MDA common candidate for Shillong seat, Jemino Mawthoh in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
Kharshiing said that Jemino Mawthoh is the fittest of all the candidates for the seat.
Making it clear that he has not joined the National People’s Party, he added that he may still campaign for the common candidate. Campaigning for the April 11 polls closes on Tuesday.
He said that he decided to support Mawthoh as he was impressed by the united effort of the regional parties to field a common candidate.
He also denied speculation that he left Congress because he could not get the party ticket to contest the Lok Sabha election from Shillong seat.
He also maintained that he is not aware if he may be a potential candidate for Rajya Sabha.
