SHILLONG: The expenditure to hold elections to Shillong and Tura Lok Sabha seats and Selsella is a whopping Rs 87 crore.
An official with the Finance Department said that while Rs 65 crore was released for normal expenditure during election, the fund released for security related expenditure is Rs 22 crore.
The official added that the Home Department had sought Rs 29 crore as expenditure for the security forces but the Finance Department released only Rs 22 crore as the financial position of the state is not sound.
