Pharmacy Council Approves B. Pharma Course at USTM

GUWAHATI: For the first time in the state of Meghalaya, the Pharmacy Science Course has been approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) at the University of Science & Technology Meghalaya (USTM). As the course has been on great demand today for students and aspiring entrepreneurs in the pharmacy sector, introduction of B. Pharma course at USTM bears much significance. The academic session for the course will begin from July 2019, according a Press communique issued by USTM.

Mahbubul Hoque, Hon’ble Chancellor, USTM has stated, “Launch of the B. Pharma course at our University will not only help general students and especially those from Meghalaya, but this will also encourage entrepreneurship in the region since in order to open any pharmacy  one needs to be qualified.”

The Chancellor has expressed his gratitude to the Government of Meghalaya for extending all kinds of support during the preparation stage by issuing important documents on time to get the approval from Pharmacy Council of India. He said that efficient faculty members would be there to guide the students in pursuing the course.

Moreover, USTM will introduce Nursing Course for students by the next year (2021). The PA Sangma International Medical College & Hospital, a dream project of USTM, would also open from 2022. This would be the first Super Specialty   and state-of-the-art private Medical College and Hospital in the entire North East India.
