SHILLONG: Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Kharkongor has directed the returning officer in Tura to ensure that re-poll at a booth under Selsella Assembly constituency on Monday is free, fair and non-erroneous.

The district election machinery has been instructed to go for wide publicity and ensure that a handpicked polling team comprising experienced and competent presiding officer and polling officials be placed to ensure zero blunders and avoid human errors, Kharkongor said.
Further, it was directed to arrange webcasting and videography to cover the entire exercise as an added layer of monitoring.
Besides the deputy commissioner, the SP, observer for Selsella by-poll, additional deputy commissioners, sub divisional police officer, Dadenggre and two sector officers visited the polling station on Sunday evening.
The general observer for West Garo Hills will visit the polling station on Monday morning.
“Members of the static surveillance team and the flying squad will be stationed at the polling station from Sunday till the end of the poll on 24×7 mode of alertness,” Kharkongor added.
