SHILLONG: The Meghalaya government has written to the Election Commission of India to allow it to carry on with certain schemes and projects which require immediate action.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the state has not been exempted from the model code of conduct but the government has written to the ECI  to allow it to carry on work on projects which are neither new nor newly announced schemes. “These are routine projects which have been sanctioned but just  procedural aspects are left for their implementation “, he added.
The model code of conduct is still in place in the state although elections to the two Lok Sabha seats were held last week.
