Heavy wind lashes city

SHILLONG: Shillong city witnessed heavy wind which led to the uprooting of a tree in the city besides snapping of power lines on Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday around 3 am, the city witnessed gushing wind as a result of which a tree was uprooted in Fourth Furlong area and it also snapped power lines nearby.
Different parts of the state were also affected. West Jaintia Hills, West Khasi Hills, East Garo Hills witnessed similar storm which has led to substantial damage. Meanwhile, IMD website says that thunderstorm accompanied with gusty wind speed (40-50) KMPH and lighting is very likely to occur over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura in the next two days.
