SHILLONG: Meghalaya Police’s online complaint portal was launched way back in 2016, but there have been few takers with not many logging in to lodge complaints even in this digital era.
The Meghalaya Police is implementing Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) which is a mission mode project of the Centre.
Under CCTNS, all police stations and higher police offices in the state and across the country are being computerised and networked.
For convenience, all police offices are interconnected and work is undertaken in a centralised application.
Meghalaya Police says it is committed to time-bound delivery of services to citizens for which it has launched the citizen portal under CCTNS.
A police official dealing with the portal said, a citizen who wants to lodge a complaint, first needs to register and create a login ID and then lodge the complaint.
Since a complaint number will be allotted to the complainant, he can also track its status online from time to time, adding once the complaint is lodged, it lands in the concerned police station after which police would start the investigation
Police said that since the service was launched in 2016, very few complaints have been lodged in the system.
The portal has different useful links about rights of citizens, duties of the officer-in-charge of the police station, mission of state police and contact details of the officials of the Meghalaya Police.
It also has a demonstration page on how a citizen should lodge a complaint through the system and how they can follow up on the status of their complaints.
