SHILLONG: The Sordar of Puriang in East Khasi Hills Bantei Mukhim has denied allegations that he was involved in burning down the house of Elfrida Mylliem.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Mukhim was upset over the allegations of the woman who he said does not even belong to Puriang.
Earlier, Mukhim along with the Sordar of Kut, Chesterwell Sohtun were accused of burning down the house of the woman Elfrida Mylliem.
Mukhim pointed out that Kut and Puriang have no connection. “We don’t even know her. I’m from Puriang and not from Kut. She is also not from Puriang as she claims to be,” he said.
“There is no truth that we demanded money, we have no connection. It is not good to tarnish the reputation of the village,” he added  Further, Mukhim said the allegation of burning down her house does not arise as he does not know where Mylliem stays.
