MAWKYRWAT: The Seng Khasi of South West Khasi Hills District in collaboration with the Seng Khasi Mawlangwir will organise the annual festival Shad Suk Mynsiem (dance of happy hearts) at Madan Shad Seng Khasi Mawlangwir on May 5 and 6.
This will be the sixth annual Shad Suk Mynsiem celebration in Mawkyrwat after the formation of South West Khasi Hills in 2012.
The two-day annual festival is a Thanksgiving dance which symbolises offering of salutations to God, homage to their ancestors and proclamation of unity of the Khasi people.
On May 5, the festival will start with the rituals to be performed by the elders (Tymmen Riewsan) of the Seng Khasi so that the Shad Suk Mynsiem will go smoothly.
Therefore, the Seng Khasi has urged all who still embrace or practice the Niam Tynrai (Khasi Religion) in the District to come and attend the festival on May 6 in traditional attire.
