Assam records overall 81.52 % voters’ turnout in Lok Sabha polls

GUWAHATI: Total 81.52 % turnout was recorded in the Lok Sabha election held in three phases in Assam to its 14 Parliamentary constituencies on April 11, April 18 and April 23.

The total number of eligible voters in Assam is 21991112 out of which 11235129 are male voters, 10755492 are female and 491 are third gender voters.

Total 17926580 voters turned out in all the three phases of polling in the state including 9182589 male voters, 8743967 female voters and 24 third gender voters. Total male voters turnout has been recorded at 81.73 % and that of female voters has been 81.30 %. The percentage of third gender voters’ turn out has been recorded at 4.89.

Polling was held in three phases in Assam to its total 14 Parliamentary Constituencies on April 11, April 18 and April 23.

In the first phase on April 11, polling was held in five constituencies of  Lakhimpur, Tezpur, Kaliabor, Jorhat and Dibrugarh. The turnout in this phase was recorded at 78.27 % including male voters’ turnout at 78.32 %, female voters’ turnout at 78.23 % and that of third gender at 7.14 %.

In the second phase on April 18, polling was held in another five constituencies of Karimganj (SC), Silchar, Mangaldoi, Nowgong and Autonomous District parliamentary constituencies. The turnout in this phase was recorded at 81.20 % including male voters’ turnout at 81.41 %, female voters’ turnout at 80.98 % and that of third gender at 2.78 %.

The third phase polling in Assam was held on April 23 in the constituencies of KOkrajhar (ST), Dubri, Barpeta and Gauhati. The turnout in this phase was recorded at 85.11 % including male voters’ turnout at 85.49 %, female voters’ turnout at 84.72 % and that of third gender at 5.10%.
