SHILLONG: Though there is no directive from the Centre to be alert following the terror attack on churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, Home Minister James Sangma sought the cooperation of the citizens to ensure safety in the state.
“We are concerned over radical elements resorting to violence and the shocking part is that educated people are involved in it”, Sangma told reporters on Thursday.
Sangma said the state government is taking its own initiative to have security in many parts of the state.
He said state security agencies are alert following the incident and added that the citizens also have a major role in ensuring safety in the state.
Sangma urged the people to alert the law enforcing agencies about any suspicious movement of people and detection of suspicious objects as this will help to prevent any untoward incidents.
