SHILLONG: The NPP has ruled out any change of government in Meghalaya even if there is a change of guard at the Centre.
NPP leader and Home Minister James Sangma said it was due to the people’s mandate that the NPP-led government was installed in Meghalaya.
“We do not see any change of government as it was the people who had elected the government to carry on”, the NPP leader said.
After the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, NPP had extended its support to the BJP-led NDA government.
In the past, there used to be change of government in the state after a change in Delhi.
Though NPP is part of the ruling NDA at the Centre, it had opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had made it clear that the support to the alliance was issue-based.
