GUWAHATI : Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) launched its premium quality food grade wax in the market on Saturday.
Named ‘Pristene’,  the niche product was launched by actor Barsha Rani Bishaya, the brand ambassador for the product, at a function here, in the presence of MD NRL managing director, S K Barua, director (technical) NRL, B J Phukan and director (finance) NRL, Indranil Mittra.

Food grade wax or Type-I wax as classified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), is a top of the line, purest form of paraffin wax which passes through very stringent quality tests so as to make it safe for use in food packaging, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

With the launch of ‘Pristene,’ NRL will now be targeting major cosmetic manufacturers, pharmaceutical industries, food-based product packaging industries and FMCG industries, both in the domestic as well as foreign markets, thereby enhancing its value chain and brand equity, a statement issued by NRL here, said.
The launch of ‘Pristene’ will further boost NRL’s brand equity, growth and strong hold in the wax market. Owing to rising demand of food grade wax, currently met through imports, ‘Pristene’ aims to bridge this demand-supply gap and become a market leader in the segment too.
NRL started its wax production in 2015 and is currently the largest producer of paraffin wax in the country.
