Youth injured in lightning strike

TURA: A youth from Chibinang area of Phulbari sustained burn injuries to his face after lightning struck his home during a thunderstorm that hit the plains belt region of West Garo Hills on Monday.
A bolt of lightning struck the electrical pole outside the home of 21-year-old Pangkam Ch Marak of Chanupara village in Chibinang.
A powerful surge of current passed through the electrical wiring of the house and caused burn injuries to Pangkam’s face. Pangkam is currently undergoing treatment at Tura Civil Hospital. It may be mentioned that every year injuries and deaths from lightning strikes are reported from the region during the pre-monsoon season.
