SHILLONG: The Education department will notify a working group to help in framing state’s own curriculum framework.
An official with the education department said the education experts from various institutes will be part of the working group.
The intention of the government is to ensure that state has its own text books for the students.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said on Tuesday that this will give an opportunity for the teachers to use their talents in preparing the text books.
He said local content will also form part of the textbooks wherever necessary.
According to Rymbui, the contribution of contemporary achievers will be included in the text books so that this will inspire the students.
After the working group discusses the school curriculum, the task to prepare the text books may go to the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT).
Earlier, many mistakes were detected in the text books prepared by the private parties and later they were corrected.
The new Education Policy of the state government states that DERT will be entrusted to develop, review and update the state curriculum framework in line with the national curricular framework.
For textbook development and adoption, a rigorous curriculum mapping process will be adopted involving faculty from NCERT, DERT, subject and curriculum experts and teachers in consultation with MBoSE.
