SHILLONG: Following the continuous stand-off between the doctors and the administration of the NEIGRIHMS, the State Government has now finally decided to intervene into the matter to sort out the problem for once and all.

Talking to media persons, Health and Family Welfare Minister, AL Hek said that he has already directed the department to convene a meeting to review the problems in the institute and sort it out at the earliest for once and all

“We will urge  them to immediately call the governing council body and we will also take a review of the entire situation in NEIGRIHMS,” Hek said

Reiterating that the Government wants to sort out the issues in the institute for once and all, he also said that patients who come to NEIGRIHMS from far and wide for treatment, should not suffer due to the stand-off between the doctors of the Cardiology department and the Administration.

Meanwhile, the stalemate continued at the institute again on Thursday as  eight  eight patients were posted for surgery  but the operations could not be conducted since stents, pacemakers and other equipments were not made available in the institute.

Doctors said that the it was assured that the equipment would be made available in the Hospital pharmacy in 48  hours but till now the equipment are not available though 48 hours have passed off.

It may be mentioned that even on Wednesday surgery of as many as  12 patients were not conducted since stents, pacemakers and other equipments were not available.
