SHILLONG: Days after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi during the filing of his nomination, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday accompanied Home Minister Rajnath Singh to Bishop House, Lucknow, raising eyebrows on the timing of their visit.
Singh is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Lucknow.
Singh later tweeted that he visited St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Lucknow along with the chief minister of Meghalaya.
“Had a wonderful interaction with the Bishop and members of the Christian community living in Lucknow”, Singh said.
In reply, Conrad tweeted, “Thank you Hon’ble Home Minister @rajnathsingh ji for your visit to Bishop House Lucknow”.
Earlier, the Congress spokesperson Zenith Sangma had criticised Conrad for meeting Modi by saying that during the campaign in Meghalaya, the chief minister had given statements that NPP was not at all associated with the BJP just to disguise NPP’s deep relationship with the BJP.
