Man gets 3-year term for rape

NONGSTOIN: The POCSO Court sentenced a 63-year-old to three years, five months and 26 days imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 for raping his 12-year-old granddaughter seven years ago. Drolishon Wahlang committed the crime in 2013 after which the girl suffered trauma and was mentally disturbed. The court found the man guilty and awarded him imprisonment with fine failing which his punishment will be extended to another three months. The counsel for the defendant said the accused did not commit the crime and was not involved in such a case.
However, the prosecution proved him guilty and sought imprisonment of not less than 3 years.
The accused was found guilty of committing an offence as under section 7 of POCSO Act 2012.
