Himanta, WB BJP chief attacked in campaign trail

GUWAHATI: BJP leader and a senior minister in Assam, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma was attacked by goons of All India  Trinamool Congress  (AITC)) while he was on the campaign trail along with West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh at Khejuri in Kanthi Lok Sabha constituency on Tuesday evening.

The goons damaged vehicles including over 20 motorcycles  in the convoy of the BJP leaders while West Bengal Police allegedly remained mute spectators. The BJP leaders were later rescued from the clutches of attackers by CRPF personnel.

Himanta Biswa Sarma  has tweeted that many BJP workers were injured in the attack even as AITC goons gheraoed and abused  them (BJP leaders). He has described the scene a scary one.

The TMC goons blocked the road from both sides and even were resisting the CRPF personnel from rescuing the BJP leaders under threat.

Meanwhile, Assam state unit of the BJP and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal have condemned the dastardly attack on Himanta Biswa Sarma and the West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh.
